About Me

Welcome! I'm Kim, and I am the author behind A Love of Teaching. I am a fourth-grade teacher turned Instructional Technology Facilitator. I have a passion for both teaching and technology. I love creating educational content and resources for the elementary classroom, as well as sharing valuable tech tips and classroom advice with teachers.

I live along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the beautiful mountains of northwestern North Carolina.

I've lived in the mountains of North Carolina my whole life. We enjoy warm summers, but cold winters. It's a beautiful and peaceful place to live. In the fall, we have leaf lookers that come from hundreds of miles away just to see the brilliant colors of our leaves as they change!

I'm about 25 minutes from Appalachian State University where I received my BS in Elementary Education and my MA in Educational Technology. Go Mountaineers!

I became a teacher-author and seller for Teachers Pay Teachers in 2011. I'm so thankful for Paul Edelman (founder) and what this company offers to teachers all over the world. This first and largest open marketplace includes a community of teachers sharing, selling and buying educational resources from one side of the globe to the other. It is a company full of expertise and wisdom from the top down, and I am extremely proud to be a member.

I love creating new products for my classroom and my store. I spend most nights working on new curriculum units, fun activities and engaging resources to use in the classroom. I've always had a love for design. I originally went to ASU to major in graphic design, but found my love for teaching outweighed my love for design, so a teacher it was! Luckily, I can still use my design skills as I create useful resources for my classroom, and hopefully yours, too.

I love all things technology, and I'm very passionate about incorporating technology into the classroom. In 2015, I was offered the position of Instructional Technology Facilitator at my school. I didn't hesitate to say, "YES!" After ten years in the classroom, I was ready for a change. Now, I teach students from kindergarten all the way to sixth grade. It's so much fun working with all the different ages and grade levels. I also assist teachers by helping them incorporate technology into their classrooms, and I offer professional development training on the latest and greatest technology programs, apps, news, gadgets - you name it! I love my job!

I love my family and spending time with them. My husband and I have one boy and one girl who just so happens to be the joy of our lives! :) From track and pole vaulting events with our son to gymnastics and art parties with our girl - we are so blessed to have them both. They definitely keep us busy!

Thanks for stopping by!
